The day after…

My of My it was a wonderful Christmas and I hope yours was as well!

Do not forget to get to some of your favorite stores to take advantage of reduced items whether it is for the kitchen, a birthday gift, whatever you may need! You can save a ton of money this way by planning ahead a bit. It does not take a fortune in cash either. A simple $20 will buy a lot mark down as much as 50-60%. Before next week it’ll be reduced 75-90% off. Take a minute and choose a few stores and just check out what I am suggesting, it just may surprise you what you’ll find reduced and quality to boot! (PS I do not buy junk especially if it is on sale). Like anyone I enjoy finding quality at a reasonable price. Saving money is second nature. You would be foolish in my humble opinion to not take advantage of Store clearance and further markdowns. Check bottom shelves for good deals. I can not tell you how many times I have found things on lower shelving. I am 5’8″ tall and if I have to sit Indian style on the store floor I will!!! Not too long ago I found Oneida silverware (service for 8) for $2.00 a box yes, absolutely true. They had 2 boxes and both came home with me. That’s 4.00 plus sales tax. It was at a nice Department Store I frequent. And yes I was sitting on the floor of the store when I came across them!

Until next time, In closing I wish you Good Health. cheffie cooks easy 1-2-3.

Are you feeling the excitement?!?

How is your Christmas menu planning coming along? Are you cooking or have you been invited to friends or family? It is such a wonderful, fun Holiday and my personal favorite! I am making a Ham again this Christmas (plus a Turkey) so many side dishes I have already lost count. Organization is key!

Are your decorations, tree, lights all up? Have you selected gifts for loved ones (and friends) yet? I saw the other day a reduction in prices on some Christmas items (25% off) already?! Do you stock up right after the Holiday? I know I do!!!I suggest you give it a try if you have not done so yet. A few days after Christmas all prices are cut to at least 50% – 75% OFF. That’s a great savings! I have even been able to purchase Birthday gifts reduced after Christmas (I have several Birthdays in January and February).

Only 2 weeks til Christmas! Are you as excited as I am?

Gift Cards for anyone!?!

Do you have loved ones or friends who are hard to buy gifts for? I think we all do. I have been giving gift cards for several years now and it seems to be working out well! Almost every establishment offers them as Gift Certificates or Gift cards. Years ago it was deemed impersonal to just hand someone a card and gift certificate. Fortunately, that has changed.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED HOMEMADE GIFTS AND TO THIS DAY FEEL THAT WAY, how about you? Do you have an opinion either way? I received a few magazine subscriptions last year and I loved that. Not all gift giving has to be ultra expensive and break the bank! I have so many interests and hobbies that people say I am very easy to select a gift for. That always humbles me because they are right of course. I believe I value someone’s thoughtfulness in their selection and not what  $ amount was spent.

I hope you are enjoying your gift purchasing this year and stretching your hard earn $. In closing, I wish you Good Health. cheffie cooks easy 1-2-3.

Only 16 days left until Christmas! See YOU soon.

Holiday “Appetizers” Entertaining

Are you hosting any Holiday parties and need to have a few appetizers available? Dips and chips are always welcomed and economical. Anything wrapped in bacon and baked works. Such as:

Jalapeno poppers, tater tots wrapped in bacon, lil’ smokie sausages wrapped in bacon baked. Appetizers are fun, economical, easy to prepare and filling.

Desserts are another great option and easily prepared and also economical. Your Holiday Table can be as pretty as anyones’ using appetizers and desserts! I love to make fudge and decorate easily with colored sprinkled sugar. Ice Box Cakes are easy, using graham crackers, cool whipped topping and fruit mixture, layered in between graham crackers. Just cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate over-night.

Simple, easy and fun! Don’t stress yourself out during the Holidays! They are to be enjoyed with friends and family!

Counting down: 18 days left until Christmas! In closing I wish You Good Health. cheffie cooks easy 1-2-3.

See You Soon! Have a great week…

$$The Dollar Tree$$

I went into the Dollar Store and found the nicest wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, name tags, paper plates and napkins for the Christmas Holidays. I was amazed at the quality of these $1 dollar items. For example the wrapping paper was 50 sq. ft. versus 25 sq. ft. twice as much for half the cost. At other stores (including Walmart) there is less square feet per roll. I also found various sized bows in a bag with different colors for $1-you can not beat that with a stick! Scotch tape (brand name) 3 rolls for $1. You want your Christmas Tree gifts to look pretty under the tree but I can not see spending loads of cash on wrapping paper and bows, ribbons when the Dollar tree has some great stuff. You’ll need to check them out! I highly recommend that.

I found decorated bags, boxes, tissue paper all there as well! Now all I need to do is start wrapping some of the presents I have already purchased! Hoping your Holiday gift giving is started?!

Did you make any Fudge yet for homemade gift giving? Don’t forget about that idea. I like to bake cookies and make gifts for family and friends with baked goods. Cut-out cookies decorated are fun to make! Lots of options on a budget.

In closing I wish you Good Health. cheffie cooks easy 1-2-3. See YOU Monday! Have a safe, good weekend!

Christmas!

Have you been thinking about Christmas and gift giving? You can make several homemade goodies to give as gifts. Many people (including myself)love homemade gifts! One delicious and economical item is FUDGE! It is easy to make. You’ll need 2 cans sweetened condensed milk (I use Carnation brand, any will work) 14 ounce size. One 16 ounce package of semi sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, butterscotch, candy morsels (I use Nestle’s or Hershey’s brand). Our family favorite is White and Chocolate/Chocolate Swirl Fudge. Super easy to make.

Melt the morsels (whichever one you choose) in the microwave (in 30 second intervals until completely melted). Add condensed milk and stir well with a sturdy spatula. Transfer to a glass dish (I use a 8″x 8″) cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator 2 hours before cutting into squares. I use parchment or wax paper to wrap up the fudge squares, tie with Christmas ribbon, place back in refrigerator to keep cold. Makes a great gift for family and friends and will not break the bank!!! It is super easy to make fudge.

I hope you’ll give this idea some thought, you may please a bunch of people with this easy to make, delicious fudge.

In closing, I wish you Good Health. cheffie cooks easy 1-2-3. See YOU Friday!
